Natural Soap recipe to make with your harvested honey. This is the “with Lye” version. Lye is available online.

There is also a soap base version with no lye if you prefer.

Oatmeal and Honey Soap Recipe (With Lye)

  1. Weigh out the olive oil and coconut oil and add to a large stainless steel pot.

  2. If using, Add your dried lavender and/or rosemary to the pot

  3. Keep stirring until the soap mixture thickens and reaches trace (when the mixture leaves a visible trail or mark on the surface).

  4. Pour the mixture into a soap mold and let it sit for 24-48 hours before cutting into bars.

  5. Once the lye has dissolved in the water, add the mixture to the pot with the oils and stir well.
  6. Keep stirring until the soap mixture thickens and reaches trace (when the mixture leaves a visible trail or mark on the surface).
  7. Pour the mixture into a soap mold and let it sit for 24-48 hours before cutting into bars.
  8. Allow the bars to cure for at least 4-6 weeks before using.

Note: When making homemade soap, it’s important to take proper safety precautions when working with lye. Wear gloves, goggles, and a long-sleeved shirt to protect your skin from splashes. Work in a well-ventilated area and keep vinegar or lemon juice on hand to neutralize any spills.
